Salary Range: $60k - $130k

 

Location: Eastern Service Areas

Job Summary

 

This position will provide experienced Mechanical Engineering support to Technical Operations within the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

 

Years of Relevant Experience

 

The position requires 7+ years of relevant experience providing mechanical engineering support, specific experience within the FAA or FAA Technical Operations is desired and preferred.

 

 

Essential Job Functions

 

The following duties are normal for this position.  The omission of specific statements of duties does not exclude them from this position if the work is similar, related, and/or a logical assignment for this position.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

 

  •  Create required plans, drawings and specifications using computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) software or other similar software programs.

·       Provide cost estimates and design analysis.

·       Provide expert mechanical design solutions, design documentation, design reviews, site assessment/surveys, RFP/statement of work development, and general support for mechanical features on a wide range of projects

·       Evaluate design objectives, perform complex technical calculations.

·       Manage project milestones from initiation through construction to monitor projected suspense dates.

·       Conduct economic analysis to determine feasibility of renovations versus new construction projects to meet requirements.

·       Plan and monitor small to large scale facilities engineering projects to assure compliance with applicable objectives, standards and requirements

·       Evaluate condition of existing mechanical systems and makes recommendations for correction or improvement.

·       Review mechanical portions of contractor/manufacturer shop drawings and equipment submittals to evaluate the adequacy and practicability of the equipment or system design in conformance with contract requirements

·       Assess construction projects for quality assurance to assure compliance with contract documents and appropriate building codes.

·       Negotiate contract modifications.

·       Review construction contracts to assure compliance with laws and regulations.

·       Duties include developing the designs, calculations, plans, technical scopes of work, cost estimates, and specifications for plumbing, heating, ventilating, air conditioning, fire sprinkler, utility, and other systems of major size and complexity.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required, candidates with degrees in Mechanical Engineering &/or other related engineering fields are preferred.

Master’s degree is a plus and may count as additional years of experience

 

 

Skills Requirements

·      Must be willing to work in a fast-paced work environment and be flexible to work on more than one program.

·      Well-organized, reliable, attention to detail, demonstrated personal initiative.  Ability to multi-task and prioritize workload.  Good interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate work with others.  Good oral and written communication skills.

·      Proficiency with 3D CAD modeling with SolidWorks, and familiarity with PDM

·      Basic knowledge of electro-mechanical assemblies

·      Engineer with minimum 4-6 years of directly applicable mechanical-site design experience

·      Strong analytical and technical writing skills

·      Receive assignments in the form of objectives and establish goals to meet objectives

·      Exercise judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results

·      Interact with senior external personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations

·      Inspect construction site to monitor progress and ensure conformance to engineering specifications

 

 

 

Security Requirements

Must be a US citizen or a legal resident for three of the past five years. Must meet eligibility requirements for a US Public Trust security clearance.

 

Travel

Occasional travel required as needed by client/s and/or company
